John Lightbody Reader from 1576-1585

Andrew Winchester Reader at Upsetlington in 1570, Minister in Fishwick 1574, returned to Upsetlington 1576, Minister 1585-1598. He married Beatrix Forman, and they had a son, George.

James Home Minister 1609-at least 1634. He was the 2nd son of Sir David Home of Wedderburn. He married Isabel Home (daughter of Patrick Home of Polwarth, widow of Thomas Cranstoun of Corsbie, Legerwood; d. before 1605), then Jean Cockburn (sister of David Cockburn in Goffrarig) with whom he had David (Minister of Ladykirk) and James. He also had a natural son, John.

Daniel Douglas (1619-1705) Minister in 1650-1662 and 1690-1705 (joined the protesters in 1651, deprived on the establishment of Episcopacy, preached in district then went to Holland, reported by the Act of Parliament of 25.4.1690). Buried in Hilton Kirkyard.

George Holiwell Minster 1662-1664, thence to Polwarth.

John Hepburn Minister 1664-1673, thence to Earlston.

William Methven Minister 1675-1682, thence to Fogo

Simon Wyld Minister in 1683-1684, thence to Wauchope

John Hope or Home, Minister 1689, deprived in 1690, thence to Coldingham where he continued Episcopal services there and at Eyemouth and Ayton together with other ousted Ministers. He died at Whitfield 15 May 1717, buried in Edrom.

Robert Cunningham Minister 1706-1707

William Wilson  (1663-1731) Schoolmaster in Stichill, then Minister of Hilton 1701-1731. Fasti says that he died unmarried, but there is a MI in Hilton Kirkyard for his wife, Anna Dunbar who died on 24 December, year unknown.

George Hume, Minister 1732-1736, thence to Whittinghame. His daughter Marion married William Eckford outwith the Kirk, giving him the embarrassment of having to chastise his own daughter in from of the congregation.

The parish was then merged with Whitsome.
