In March, 1913, Whitsome school performed "The Mystic Mirror;
or, The Prince, The Pearl and the Peri" by C. King Proctor, published
in 1908 by Bayley & Ferguson. Book catalogues describe it as "a fanciful
operetta in 3 acts". It seems to have been popular with Scottish
schools and Sunday schools until the 1930s. The production must have been a
success as the Berwickshire News records that on 29 December, 1914, they
performed "Lady of the Lake" to raise money for the Belgian
Relief Fund.
