Erected by James Brack in memory of his father George Brack steward for a long period of years to the late Adam Thomson tenant of Ramrigg who died May 15, 1839 aged 84 years.
And Agnes Wrath his spouse who died September 2 1811 aged 76 years
Also his grandson Alexander Cockburn who died at Ramrigg August 15, 1837 aged 19 months.
George who died at Langrigg January for 1849 aged 11 years.
And James died at Langrigg January 6, 1849 aged four years.

And of George Scott, parochial schoolmaster of Whitsome from 1814 to 1845, who casting his lot with the Free Church retired to Dunse and occupied himself in administering to the sick and the poor, and departed this life on the sixth day of August 1866 in the 79th year of his life. A good man unwearied in well doing and much beloved by all that knew him. Blessed are th dead which die in the Lord: Yea sayeth the Spirit that they may rest from their labours and their works do follow them.
