Telematics is one of the most significant drivers for change in business, transport, education and personal communications that we have ever seen. Telematics is influencing and providing opportunities in most areas of our lives

The EADIS consortium compiled a large body of knowledge (a knowledge map) covering the following areas:

  1. Introduction to Telematics (introduction to Telematics Definitions, State of Art)
  2. Drivers for Vehicle Telematics (Opportunities, Barriers and Issues)
  3. Technologies (Communication, Location,Interface [including ergonomics and MMI])
  4. Application Issues( Application areas, Europe vs global approaches [USA, Japan], Lifecycles of technologies, Infrastructure [or lack of])
  5. Case Studies of Vehicle Telematics
  6. New Business Models (Collaborative approach, Public/private sector)
  7. Future Scenarios
This knowledge map summarizes a number of initiatives and examples of Vehicle Telematics being developed for future applications, particularly related to safety. We have explored some of the technology issues and opportunities and the new multi-sectoral business models required to maximise the opportunities for new and robust products.

Based on the success and foundations of EADIS, a new Leonardo project has been defined and approved by the EU entitled European Boat Design and Innovation Group (EBDIG). This includes Universities of Coventry and Delft, and also includes boat design Industry.
 
At 2 december 2009, all consortium partners sent delegates to finalize the EADIS project in terms of content development, evaluation of the content by students and industry, and possible follow-up projects.
 
Delegates from Coventry, Delft and Oulu engaged in the 16th ITS conference at Stockholm, Sweden on telematics.
 
   
The consortium was present at the Navigation&Location Europe 2009 conference, Amsterdam. We organized a succesful workshop and had a demo stand to present our findings, videos and other media. It allowed intense networking with industry and EU commision delegates. more information...
